Ravi Shankar (honored with the title of “Sri Sri”) was founded in 1956 by a prominent family of South India. Followers say that just four years was able to recite the entire Bhagavad Gita. Seventeen Not yet finished his studies, including a specialization in modern science. Its existence is entirely dedicated to what he calls “re-evaluation of human values.” In 1982 he founded the United States, the ‘ Art of Living Foundation , an educational organization, while in 1986 he was appointed “Yoga Shiromani (Supreme Teacher union with the Self). The fact that he founded collaborates with various NGOs and UN teams, with the aim of raising awareness of human values. Thus was born the ‘ International Association for Human Values , headquartered in Geneva, which embodies the common goal of all initiatives and inspired by Ravi Shankar. Since November 1996, the Art of Living Foundation is an NGO in consultative status with respect to the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations. Since 1999 it has actively engaged in a worldwide campaign on human values along with other organizations around the world have similar aims.

The Art of Living offers educational programs, experiential processes and practical tools for stress management, and to resolve conflicts, improve health and living life with more joy and enthusiasm. These programs would be approached, according to the Foundation, more than one million people in ninety countries around the world. The Foundation has affiliated offices in all continents.

The “5H Program” is a volunteer of the International Association for Human Values, which offers development projects in social and community focused on five objectives: Health (Health), Homes (houses), Hygiene (Hygiene) Harmony amidst Diversity (harmony in diversity), Human Values (human values). The program gives everyone the opportunity to approach it to put into practice the values of compassion and service to society, and to contribute to the improvement of social conditions of the poor. In addition, it provides a service model that the company could, according to the Association, to emulate. In the context of “Project 5H”, in various poor areas of Africa and Asia have opened schools that provide basic education and vocational training, helping to re-evaluate traditional knowledge in the light of modern science were made Free medical facilities and accommodation, is on the project “Health Services” which offers free training in theory and practice in holistic medicine and hygiene.

In 1992 Ravi Shankar’s launch of the foundation Prison SMART (Stress Management and Rehabilitative Training “, or” stress management and rehabilitation “), whose activities are aimed at people involved in the justice system: prison inmates, youth at risk, victims of crime and professionals working in the field of justice. Over twenty thousand people participated in the Prison SMART program, which the United States and India are studied as solutions to break the cycle of violence in society and are the focus of scientific research – United States – in 1995 and 1998.

The Foundation implements also a series of training programs – also the subject of medical studies in the years 1997-1998 – ART Excel (All ‘Round Training for Excellence “training round excellence”); Corporate Executive Program (In-company training) programs for alcoholics, drug addicts, victims of abuse, subject to depression, chronic medical conditions or terminal victims of war or natural disasters, and programs for conflict resolution.

In Italy, Roberto San Lorenzo and Silvia Hope – after having personally met Ravi Shankar and his teachings in depth – give birth in July of 1999, Art of Living to reality (in our country, the Art of Living Foundation adopted the Italian name, but has the same aims of the Foundation at the international level), which currently has a number of contacts in the various regions. The Italian company, on the occasion of New Year’s Day 2000, organized the New Millennium World Meeting in Marina di Carrara (Massa Carrara), under the patronage of the Tuscany Region and the Province of Massa Carrara. The meeting came from all over the world for an entire week, about 1,300 people. Following the Meeting, 6 January 2000, Ravi Shankar, the presence of about eight hundred people, held a public conference in Milan. In our country are on a hundred members who embrace the goals of the Art of Living and may use as a means of communication web site that provides updated news and announcements on the various activities (events, courses, etc.) organized in Italy) .

Ravi Shankar, also drawing on the spiritual heritage from India, draws inspiration from different religious and spiritual traditions of humanity, which recognizes and affirms the universal aspect of universalization, going beyond the historical and social needs in which they were developed. According to the ancient Indian heritage associated with the Vedic tradition is so widespread throughout the world in an accessible and modern. According to Art of Living, there are seven levels of human existence: body, breath, mind, intellect, memory, ego and self. Health teaching of Ravi Shankar is not understood simply as the absence of disease, but it coincides with the harmony of these seven levels.

Art of Living stresses the importance of learning techniques to preserve or restore this harmony. Thus it is promoted and improved the integrity of the individual at every level and is the second Art of Living a transformation of the person in terms of physical, emotional and mental health. The techniques, which use the breath as the primary tool, they have two levels of application. The first application consists of several types of pranayana (from Sanskrit, literally “send or store vital energy”), which coincides with the inhalation and exhalation take power with the elimination of toxins in the body. Pranayana I aim to keep the mind calm and clear, to expand the lung capacity, to “energize” the entire body. The second application (the cornerstone of techniques taught by Ravi Shankar) is the Sudarshan kryia (from Sanskrit, literally “purifying action that allows you to have a clear vision of his own nature”), who works with the breath in its dual nature: vital energy intake and release of toxins and rhythm. The Sudarshan kryia triggers a process of healing that brings the individual to enjoy significant benefits, including greater sense of satisfaction in daily life, increase ability to manage emotions and stress, improving global health.

The ultimate goal of these techniques is the revitalization of the seven levels and re-tuning of the first six with the self that is free from toxins, not just as chemical toxins, as well as stress, tension, rigid mental structures, emotional trauma. Re-tuning is realized in ensuring that the levels act in a coordinated and harmonious, and this should be expressed in the natural effects, or the self. When it does not arise forms of discomfort, of which one example – among many in this regard provided by the teaching of Art of Living – is the continuing activity of the mind even at the end of a working day, when you should rest. When the body is full of energy and the seven levels are in harmony, it is natural and spontaneous for the individual to express basic human values, which are the true human nature and the Art of Living shows how goal: respect and care to all forms of life, nonviolence, compassion, friendship and cooperation, generosity and sharing, belonging, ecological sensitivity, social solidarity, commitment and responsibility, peace, joy and enthusiasm, integrity, honesty and sincerity.

Particular emphasis is also placed on the body work, aiming to achieve awareness of the link between emotions and sensations of the body – as a means of self-knowledge – and to create and maintain a healthy and efficient. Another tool which uses the Art of Living is Sahaj Samadhi meditation. Meditation is defined as a state of being, in which, without effort, the individual comes into contact with the deepest part of the self, the essence of humanity. In the meditative state is the metabolic activity is the mental suffering a substantial slowdown, even higher than that occurs during sleep. There is therefore a deep sleep. To achieve this state using a method that dates back to ancient Vedic tradition. Ravi Shankar, in addition to teaching techniques, makes use of other instruments, including a knowledge system aimed to capture and integrate in their daily lives the principles of healthy and effective and to recognize the mechanisms of the human mind that create stress and discomfort and then with the help of the techniques, get away from them.

This breathing technique helps remove accumulated toxins and regenerate every cell in the body with prana, sanskrit word. This increases lung capacity, oxygenation of cells and the elimination of toxins, and at the same time, balances emotions and calms the mind.

Combined with a balanced diet, good sleep and control of emotions, breathing is one of the vital functions that help the body to be healthy.

Therefore, we must learn to breathe properly to absorb oxygen better and nutrients that our cells require, while the toxins are discarded.

According to an expert on breathing technique Sudarshan Kriya, the Foundation’s “The Art of Living,” Luis Diego Cob, said that breathing is the perfect tool to manage the mind and emotions, and thus the tool to improve our wellness. Unfortunately, in Western cultures has not devoted sufficient attention to the breath, he said.

Currently, the stress generated by various economic reasons, insecurity, among others, raise stress. Anxiety, frustration, helplessness, fear, and other recurring emotions generated by the unbalanced stress to our body and can lead to cardiovascular, respiratory, cancer, emotional disorders such as depression or insomnia, and even accelerate the aging process skin.

Few know how to counter the stress because the mind is trapped between the past and the future, said Cob. When the mind is clinging to the past, there’s anger, regret and guilt, and when the mind is in the future, there is the anxiety, nerves and fear. This fluctuation creates a great emotional and physiological said.

If we learn and can handle stress through breathing, we have much more energy and better health and wellness in all areas of our lives. The mind can be handled through breathing.

If you look carefully we can see that every emotion has a corresponding breathing pattern, as when we are depressed breathing is slow and deliberate, with emphasis on the exhale. When we are happy the emphasis is on the inhale, and when we alter or get angry, breathing becomes rapid and short. Children when they get angry just breathe.

L-breath is intimately associated with emotions, so if we learn more about its different rhythms, we can learn to manage emotions, presented Cob.

The four main energy sources are: Power, Sleep, Breath and Mind Balance. In a full body, we feel full of energy, vitality and joy, as when we arrived at the seaside or the mountains. In addition, the immune system rises, improving health, the smoothness of the skin and hair, and calming the nervous system.

The bellows breathing technique called “natural instant coffee, is a vigorous inhalation and exhalation through the nose, coordinated with a movement of arms, inhaling raise the arms vigorously spreading his hands. As you exhale forcefully through your nose, hitting the arms are lowered slightly the area of the ribs, leaving the hands to shoulder height again as the starting position. In conclusion, we performed an adequate relaxation, which helps a deep sleep, increase mental focus and clarity and even rejuvenation.

Scientific and medical studies in several countries have evaluated the effect of this technique in the body, and ensure that the steady state, freedom and fullness that get put into circulation neuropeptides that positively influence health.

Similarly, have found that breathing practices reduce the level of cortisol, along with other stress hormones responsible, scientifically confirmed the effectiveness of breathing to combat mental exhaustion.

They have also proven effective against various diseases such as depression, combat mental exhaustion, improve the immune system and even reverse the formation of free radicals.

In studying the effect of proper breathing in antioxidant enzymes, the results obtained suggest that practitioners of SK have a better antioxidant status and a stronger defense against oxidative body wear.

Imedeen recommended nutrition care according to age and lifestyle, as it is a key factor in maintaining healthy skin, incorporating fruits and vegetables daily diet, rich in vitamins and take Imedeen Classic tablets, Time Perfection and Prime Renewal containing these essential nutrients to the skin and act from within.

Develop a sleep seven to eight hours to help you regain your energy and rest needed for the body and mind. According to experts from “The Art of Living”, the biggest break for body and mind can be achieved in a few minutes because 20 minutes of deep meditation is equivalent to six hours of sleep.

When breathing properly, you get a better antioxidant status will help eliminate free radicals. Also, learn to manage emotions through breathing help keep the mind balanced, stress, which damages health and can cause premature aging of the skin.

A ritual may intensify your prayer and your inner state of peace and love.

As soon as haste and problems of life have vanished, start your meditation on light:

Imagine above you the spiritual world, in the same way as heaven is thought to be above our heads (this is a psychic, archetypic inner orientation). From this spiritual world a stream of light flows through the top of your head and flows down the spine.

You may do this in the rhythm of breath:

Breathing in feel the light stream down on your head, passing the fontanella and streaming downwards.

Breathing out stay with your attention at the light which fills your body and feel how light becomes brighter and how it gives you health and strength.

Outside of Asia, many people develop an interest of more and more important in Buddhism. In the Western world, many read about Buddhism and there are now many good books on Buddhism.

Buddhism taught in the books is just a taste and it is important now to move from theory to practice.

1) What is the practice of Buddhism?

We always hear Buddhists say they “engaged Buddhism.”

First, the “practice” refers most often to a specific activity such as meditation or chant that is done every day. For example, a person practicing Jodo Shu (Pure Land) Japanese Nembutsu recites every day. Zen and Theravada Buddhist practice bhavana (meditation) every day.

First, the “practice” refers most often to a specific activity such as meditation or chant that is done every day. For example, a person practicing Jodo Shu (Pure Land) Japanese Nembutsu recites every day. Zen and Theravada Buddhist practice bhavana (meditation) every day.

2) Where practice Buddhism?

Buddhists have altars. What’s inside an altar varies from one sect to another, but found in the majority status of Buddha, candles, flowers, incense and a small bowl of water. Take care of the altar is also taking care of the practice.

3) How to practice Buddhism?

Buddhist practice also includes the practice of the Buddha’s teaching, especially “The eight steps to happiness.” The eight steps are organized into three sections: wisdom, ethics and mental discipline. The practice of meditation is part of mental discipline.

Ethical conduct is very important in Buddhism. We are challenged to take care in our speech, our actions and our everyday life so as not to harm others and to cultivate safe in ourselves. For example, if we are in a state of anger, we will take steps to let go of our anger before we nuisions other.

We are challenged to practice conscious at all times. Being aware we are clearly present reality, not getting lost in a tangle of troubles, dreams and passions.

Buddhists strive to practice Buddhism at all times.

Of course, we do not all the time necessary to here. But to make this effort is in the heart of Buddhism. Becoming a Buddhist is not a question of accepting a belief system or storage of doctrines. Being Buddhist is to practice Buddhism.

Karma is one of the most important concepts in Buddhism. Karma is an imprint in one’s Mind. When one performs a good deed out of good intentions, the good intentions come from the Mind. Having done that good deed, the residues of these intentions stay in one’s Mind as “imprints”, and that is “good karma”. The opposite goes for evil deeds (or what the Buddha would call “unwholesome deeds”) done out of greed, hatred etc.

A person’s karma affects a person in 2 ways. The first is his disposition. If a person is an angry one, performing many deeds with anger, his mind will be imprinted with experiences and intentions of anger. Because of this imprint, in a similar situation, he would be more likely to feel angry. In a sense, the imprint creates and reinforces a sort of mental habit that causes a person’s mind to react in a certain pre-disposed way.

The second and more important way karma affects a person is by affecting his experience. Our experiences, our feelings of joy or sufferings, come mainly from our reaction to perceptual inputs. Taking our angry guy as an example, in many situations, he feels offended, angry and that seriously affects his state of mind. He often feels the pain of anger, very little peace. But if that person practices meditation, develops his mind, etc etc, such that he develops peace and love. He may live the same life all over and he may not experience the anger or the pain of anger etc in those same situations. In a sense, his karma is one of the main determinants of his experiences. In this sense too, we may say that our sufferings comes from our karma and our states of mind.

The underlying factor in the formation of Karma is Intentions. What gets imprinted into one’s mind is largly decided by one’s intentions. If I accidently stepped on a spider, for example, squashing it to death, and let’s say I didn’t even notice, there was no intention, how can there be an imprint into my mind? But if say I stepped on it out of “fun”, the desire to cause harm now gets imprinted. In later life, I may become less sensitive to the value of life, I may be bothered by this experience, I may find myself more likely to be hateful, etc etc. That, friend, would be my karma. In a similar way, let’s say I lost $20 while touring the slumps of India. The money is nothing to me, so I won’t even notice. But somebody found the money and fed his family for a month, saving a dying child’s life. If I wasn’t even aware that I lost the money, how can there be good karma for me?

(This concept of Karma was one of the main differences btwn the teachings of Buddhism and Jainism. Mahavira Jain taught that all actions, intentional or not, creates karma. The Buddha, speaking from his insights into the mind, taught that the Intention plays the deciding role. From my experience as a meditator, I verified Buddha’s position for myself.)

In shamanism, everything has a spirit: every person, animal, tree, flower, rock, stream and ocean – even the earth. The shaman can communicate with all spirits, good or bad and must determine with which minds work. Traditional shamans must learn to “control” the minds: they must be tamed and domesticated so that they work for the shaman, this is not an approach to be taken lightly and it requires many years of apprenticeship with one or more traditional shamans.

My approach is to work with the spirits of equals and with total respect. The concept that everything has a spirit is known as animism and is considered by many to be the ancestor of all religions. For many people, the word mind has a religious connotation and can even be repulsive. When we speak of shamanic cultures, the meaning of ‘spirit’ is clearly what we think, be a form of super-natural. It’s more of a spiritual belief that a religious belief and it is a way of life for the shamanistic cultures. For me, the distinction is clear between spiritual and religious – I consider myself very spiritual and somewhat non-religious. The fact is that for many people, when we make a spiritual care, we work with energies, energies that science has not yet understood. We do not have to be religious: the spiritual care work for atheists like the fervent believers!

The shaman can see when the mind falls ill, the health of physics is always connected to the health of mind, so all physical illnesses have a spiritual cause. This is especially true for people:

The mind can experience a lack of energy because of poor connections between the human and spirit helpers and power animals.

The mind can be affected by an intruder, or something that is not natural for the mind: when the mind is weak, it can not easily resist these intrusions that occur rapidly in physical form. An intrusion is like an infection of the mind, like a tumor.

In some cases, intrusion can be a pest, such as a spiritual entity. The entity can be there for “good” reasons or simply to do harm, but in most cases, the presence of an entity is neither good for the mind that receives or the mind parasite. The only exception is especially bad is when the entity itself is inherently evil – a dark spirit or a demon – an entity becomes stronger by draining the life force of the mind that receives it until this spirit can survive.

The process for removing an entity is generally known under the term “taking” or “forfeiture”. It can also be called “exorcism” although this is normally reserved for the more technical Catholic (which itself has declined dramatically over the past 1,000 years). Shamanic is a dangerous technique that can lead to possession of the shaman by the entity if the act is not done with extreme competence.

Shamanic care to treat an intrusion is called “extraction”

There may be “holes” in the mind, comparable to an abscess. These occur when the mind loses soul shards or fragments that are forcibly removed.

Care to treat a shamanic fragmented soul is called soul retrieval. “

With the help of the Spirit and / or spirits, the shaman heals mentally spirit or soul of the person, bringing a harmonious balance between the mental, physical and spiritual.

It is the shamanic journey. During this journey, the shaman can experience events relating to his life and his past lives, and can also often see elements of future possibilities. The shaman can see this causing a problem for his patient, whether physical or psychological / emotional. The shaman “trip” on behalf of the patient to help him with his problems.

Some shamanic cultures use drugs and / or alcohol to go into a trance, but this can not be advised: this is very dangerous and it is also impossible to control the trance while you are under the influence of substances that control the mind. Many Westerners are intrigued to want to experiment Enough With The Amazonian plant Ayahuasca Which Is, Indeed, Used by Many shamanistic culture as to enter trance. Although thesis cultures are doing to defend What They Cdn Their millennia-long use of Ayahuasca, it has been “Outlawed By The United Nations Because Of The Hazards Associated with its use.

More commonly, the trance is achieved through the use of drums, maracas and dances, often accompanied by the scents of sage or incense.

Many people say that shamanism is the first religion in the world, while others say it is not a religion. Some claim that its witchcraft and others say it is irrational to schizophrenic delusions. It is much more complex to try to answer these questions and this is part of the training programs I offer, but I’ll try to post some articles that will enlighten you a little about these and other questions – please check the site regularly!

If you talk on shamanism to most Westerners, they will surely think about the techniques of traditional care, travel or shamanic medicine men of Indian peoples of North America (which were not, interestingly, necessarily shamans). But shamanism and shamans are not words used by American Indians although shamanism is practiced for at least two thousand years, and probably as far back as the Paleolithic era (perhaps there 50,000 years). The word shaman is not used in most shamanic cultures which remain today in the world: other names for shaman among the Zulu sangoma include, babalawo among the Yoruba, and kahuna in Hawaii. Shamans of People Mapuche in Chile almost always women and are known as the Machi.

The word shaman, himself, seems to come from among the peoples s aman Toungouz and E venki in Siberia, but there is much discussion and confusion because the word is very near the Samana Tocharian word meaning Buddhist Monk. The Tocharian were a Buddhist people of European descent who lived in Asia until the tenth century or so, and it is likely that they had a shamanistic culture.

In fact, Shamanism predates by several thousand years in the Buddhist Tocharians. The former Australian Aborigines practiced shamanism 10,000 years ago and probably well over longer than that. There is evidence that the European peoples also practiced shamanism at the time of the ice age, there are some 15 to 30,000 years. It is clear that shamanism is probably the oldest tradition of care in the world, and, after the recent discovery of drum sticks and bones of animals used in rituals throughout the world, we can reasonably assume that shamanism was practiced by all cultures for about 50,000 years or more.

They also apply the ideas and the Buddhist teachings that they acquire in their work and their social relations. You are probably one of those who are very interested in Buddhism and you may one day decide to follow a formal disciple of Buddha and living the path of understanding, faith and love.

Know the Basics

If you want to make Buddhism your religion and become a Buddhist, first there are things to know. First, you must be familiar with the principles of Buddhism such as karma , rebirth , the four noble truths, the eight paths, and the five precepts, the Nembutsu, the Pure Land and Nirvana.

It is not necessary to accept these concepts early, but we must be prepared to examine them. The Buddha never asked his disciples to believe in something he said it. He said that everyone needs to find the truth for himself.
Understanding is important

In Buddhism, understanding is the most important thing and it takes some time. So do not impulsively rush into Buddhism. Take your time, ask questions, carefully consider what you said and then make your decision.

The Buddha was not interested in having a large number of disciples. He was rather concerned that people should follow his teachings as a result of a thorough investigation, review the facts and personal experience.

How can you become a Buddhist?

- Join a group or a Buddhist temple, be supportive and be supported by others and continue to learn about the Buddha’s teaching but before that you must understand Buddhism.

- Read about teaching , apply the teachings in your life, and open your heart and spirit to the work of great compassion.

- Then, when you’re ready, you can officially become a Buddhist with an affirmation or a ceremony of ordination.
Affirmation and ordination

The decision to become a Buddhist is marked by an affirmation or a ceremony of ordination. These two types of ceremonies are different, but share certain religious aspects.

First, the affirmation or Kikyoshiki ceremony is special, it only exists in Shin Buddhism.

It is a form of personal religious confirmation, during which the participant publicly recognizes its orientation and its commitment to the pure land (Nirvana), the path of Shinran Shonin and recognition in his life.

As indicated above, this ceremony is only for Buddhists Shin,

represent a lay religious movement and not a religious order. This ceremony does not involve the transmission of the

Three Jewels or five or ten precepts .

However, the ceremony of ordination is conferred only by a fully ordained monk Penant which the participant receives a “human rights” or “teacher to student”, the transmission of the Three Jewels and Five Precepts and can sometimes have the Bodhisattva vows

The participant is then ordered as a tracker and known as an upasaka (ordained lay follower males) or upasika (lay ordained female). He or she then receives a certificate and a Buddhist name.

Consequently, the ordained is officially launched as part linked to a monastic order, in which he or she is dedicated to the Three Jewels and Five Precepts.
