Monroe Techniques

One of the chief barriers people learning to project face is fear. Many are afraid that they may die, or be harmed in some way as a result of their projection. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The Cantebury Institute, reknowned for its occult studies, executed an experiment in projection involving over 2,000 people. None of them were hurt in any way by this, and now, three years later, none have complained of any newly arising problems.
Once you are aware that you cannot be harmed by projecting, you should begin monroe's techniques, step by step.
Step one:
Relax the body. According to Monroe, "the ability to relax is the first prerequisite, perhaps even the first step itself" to having an OBE. (out of body experience) This

Staring Method

The staring method is very simple, but may take several tries before you get it. It works by guiding you to the awake/asleep line without actually crossing it- and essential step for reaching an experience beyond the physical.
Begin by taking an object that you can focus on and placing it so that you can look at is as you drift off to sleep. You can also try taping a picture to the ceiling and using that, but you want it to be at a comfortable distance so that it doesn't strain your eyes. Good objects would be unlit candles, small statuettes, stuffed animals, a small mirror, a piece of fruit (apple, orange), a flower, a book, etc. Anything that keeps your interest. If you have

Simple Method

Out-of-body experiences, also known as Astral Travel or OBEs, are journeys into the astral plane. These journeys can be of the normal world around you, but are not limited to that. They are a safe release that always guarantees a return.

Before you do anything, you MUST first be sure you have no fear of OBEs. You must also be passive, relaxed, and patient!

Affirmations

The idea behind affirmations is to chant something to implant an intent in your mind before you fall asleep so that you don’t neglect your hope to have an OBE when you sleep. Our mind easily lets things go when you begin to dream- things like worries, ideas, thoughts, all seem to just get lost in a mess of strange imagery. By chanting one of the following affirmations or one of your own, you can increase the chance of keeping your intentions with you.

“I am going to have an out-of-body experience. I am going to let myself drop off to sleep, but I am going to bring this waking consciousness with me wherever I go. I am going to leave my body with full awareness.”

Intentions and Imaginations

Bodily Basis For OBE’s

Relaxation (Savasana) for trance:

Lay with your back on the floor, with a flat pillow underneath your head. Turn your head aside, to prevent your relaxed tongue occluding the respiratory tract, which could hinder you in breathing and make you snore (which may cause awakening). Furthermore the above quoted head position prevents saliva to flow into the trachea. Place your hands close to the body. Then relax, and use additional imaginative techniques. For Savasana you find a good description in the home page of Steve Ritter 3).

If you have a small fish in a fishbowl you may want to use that. Also, blue or violet toned objects will work best because you will practice in low lighting, and reds can’t be seen well in low lights (the human eye can see blues in the dark while reds disappear).

  • Take deep breaths, allowing your breath to slow naturally. Do not force it to slow down.

Some General Tips on OBEs

Balancing Between
Sleep And Awakeness

Depending from the body
position - lying flat or sitting more or less upright - I
learned to trigger the degree of awareness. Naturally the
more flat the position was, the stronger was the tendency to
fall asleep.

Some General Tips on OBEs

Attention! Trance
methods and meditations described in this article can be
dangerous for psychic instable persons, who perform these
methods without control of an advanced person. Awakened
psychic forces can get out of control by people with great
problems and uncontrolled fears.
